Primrose Retirement Communities earns employee award

ABERDEEN, SD — Primrose Retirement Communities, LLC has as earned a 2020 Employee Approved award from Lincoln, Nebraska–based healthcare-intelligence firm NRC Health. The award recognizes senior-care organizations across the country for engaging and inspiring their employees.

“It’s quite an honor to have Primrose be chosen by its employees for the culture that we have here.  We are very appreciative of everything our staff does and for them helping us win this award,” said Jim Thares, Founder and CEO.

Only twenty Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing organizations earned this remarkable distinction and Primrose placed 13th in the nation for Outstanding Culture. Winners were selected according to the results from NRC Health’s 2019 Employee Experience Survey. To qualify, organizations must have a high percentage of respondents willing to recommend their locations as places to work. This measure is known as the Net Promoter Score (NPS), and it strongly correlates with employee engagement, organizational loyalty, and job satisfaction.

“We are proud to honor those senior living organizations who continue to provide outstanding work experiences for their employees,” said Helen Hrdy, Chief Growth Officer of NRC Health. “We commend these organizations for supporting a work environment dedicated to the success of their staff.”

“We have over 1700 employees across the company, and I think this award is a testament to the culture at every single one of our communities.  We know that our employees are our most important resource, and we thank them for this award.  The passion that our teams have to serve, especially those on the front lines, is our most important resource,” said BJ Schaefbauer, President.

We have lived with our dog Duke at Primrose since it has opened about 3 years ago. Being able to live in our home for many years was a gift but we knew that it was time to downsize and move to a smaller home. What we enjoy most here at Primrose is being part of a community. The people are wonderful, the activities are both educational and fun, and the food is amazing! Living so close to people keeps us both healthier and happier. We can come and go as we please, and take part in the activities that we wish to do. I think the advice I would give to others that are thinking about moving is to stop thinking about it. Moving to Primrose was the best thing that we have ever decided to do!

I lived here since they opened in 2018. Professionally I did a lot of clerical work for the city, county, and state. When I was younger I worked at Moon Beach Church Camp, where my parents were camp cooks. I also enjoyed playing the ukulele while my Mom played the piano at the camp.

After my husband passed away my place was too big for just me and I needed to downsize. Although I was apprehensive to move, being alone was lonely and I needed to be around people.

People are kind here and like a family. I look forward to simple things here like coffee time in the morning, the noon meal, and Happy Hour! There is always so much going on from ice cream socials, book club, and bridge, to just simply walking outside. A little secret that I want to share with the world… the staff is awesome, they really care!

Primrose is a high quality residence where my grandmother currently lives. I’ve enjoyed my visits and my Grandma loves the environment and community, participating in many of its activities. The location is clean and the team there seems very friendly and caring. The pub is very cool and we’ve had impromptu family gatherings there.
