Assisted Living at Primrose Goes Beyond Care

Assisted Living at Primrose Goes Beyond Care

Sponsored content by Nikki Easton, Brand Ave Studios contributing writer

There’s a myth about assisted living that couldn’t be further from the truth — at least at Primrose Retirement Communities. You don’t have to lower your expectations of what life can offer just because you need special care or help with day-to-day.

As an assisted living resident at Primrose, you not only have the security of 24/7 nursing services, but each day is designed to enrich your world, foster optimal health and provide a warm, fulfilling social life.

Here’s just a taste of the lifestyle you can enjoy there.

A fulfilling social life

As we age, the potential for physical limitations increases, making it more difficult to get out into the world. This can lead to loneliness and isolation, which takes a toll on your emotional and physical health. At Primrose, residents find it easy to cultivate meaningful friendships.

There’s a wealth of opportunities to connect you with your neighbors. These get-to-know-each-other events can range from pure fun at a themed social to an intimate afternoon sharing personal histories.

In addition to these organized social events, friendships at Primrose often begin with a casual chat in the community café, ice cream bar or dining room, where the welcoming atmosphere makes it easy to socialize.

Life enrichment programs

Each Primrose community has a full-time life enrichment coordinator who knows the residents well and custom-tailors programs to fit their needs.

They provide a daily array of programs that allow you to pursue your passions, whether it’s stimulating your creativity with arts and crafts, enjoying music that adds to the richness of your life, or learning to be as savvy with electronic devices as your grandchildren.

They also have an exclusive program for lifelong learning, Primrose Senior University. It stimulates the mind through brain exercises, short story reading groups and courses each month on a range of fascinating subjects, presented through slide shows, films and group discussions.

Exercise and nutrition

Nutrition and exercise are vital to living your best life, and they play a key role in assisted living at Primrose. Meals are not only delicious, but they’re also made from wholesome, nutritious ingredients to encourage optimal health and can be tailored to the dietary requirements of individual residents.

Each Primrose community also has a fitness center that’s open all day so you can use it whenever you like. In addition, they offer a variety of group exercise classes that are appropriate for residents’ physical abilities and needs, including strength training and chair yoga.

Wonderful onsite amenities

Primrose often organizes special outings and shopping trips — but within the community itself, you’ll also find many of the amenities you once had to go downtown for. You can maintain your stylish appearance in the salon, find your next great read in the library or enjoy a film in the movie theater. There’s also a chapel that offers both denominational and nondenominational services.

We have lived with our dog Duke at Primrose since it has opened about 3 years ago. Being able to live in our home for many years was a gift but we knew that it was time to downsize and move to a smaller home. What we enjoy most here at Primrose is being part of a community. The people are wonderful, the activities are both educational and fun, and the food is amazing! Living so close to people keeps us both healthier and happier. We can come and go as we please, and take part in the activities that we wish to do. I think the advice I would give to others that are thinking about moving is to stop thinking about it. Moving to Primrose was the best thing that we have ever decided to do!

After my husband passed away my place was too big for just me and I needed to downsize. Although I was apprehensive to move, being alone was lonely and I needed to be around people.

People are kind here and like a family. I look forward to simple things here like coffee time in the morning, the noon meal, and Happy Hour! There is always so much going on from ice cream socials, book club, and bridge, to just simply walking outside. A little secret that I want to share with the world… the staff is awesome, they really care!

Primrose is a high quality residence where my grandmother currently lives. I’ve enjoyed my visits and my Grandma loves the environment and community, participating in many of its activities. The location is clean and the team there seems very friendly and caring. The pub is very cool and we’ve had impromptu family gatherings there.
